US Navy Dental School Scholarship Presentation

Attention all Dental and Pre-Dental Students:

Learn about the US Navy’s Dental School Scholarship, with full-paid tuition and over $80K in living expenses while you complete dental school.

The UB Pre-Dental Association and Office of Prehealth Advising Presents:

Philip Rinaudo, CAPT, DC, USN, Dental Corps Career Planner

Captain Rinaudo earned his dental degree from Louisiana State University and completed a residency in Operative Dentistry at Indiana University School of Dentistry. He has held academic appointments at Medical University of South Carolina, LSU School of Dentistry and the University Of Tennessee College Of Dentistry. He served as Navy Delegate to the American Dental Association (ADA) and is a member of the ADA, the Academy of Operative Dentistry and the International Journal of Dentists. He will be giving a presentation regarding the Navy’s Dental School Scholarship Program for those interested in learning more about opportunities in Navy dentistry.

He will give two presentations, one on the South Campus, and one on the North Campus. The dates are:

October 16 (South Campus) in the Ruchlin Room - 325B Squire Hall

AND

October 17 (North Campus) in room 145 D Student Union

Both presentations will begin at 12:00 and last approximately 45 minutes

Discover LECOM Day - Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine

On Campus Day - Learn About Osteopathic Medicine Saturday, October 27 from 10:00-2:00 p.m. 

They offer: a tour of the facility, gross anatomy lab presentations, osteopathic manipulative presentations, microbiology lab presentations, an overview of the DO program and trolley tour of the City of Erie, PA.  LECOM is approx 90 miles south of Buffalo within the state of PA.

A Life and Learning Workshop - sign up online. If you are JUST BEGINNING to explore these health professions, come to this workshop to learn what you can be doing NOW to prepare! Learn how you can improve your chances for admission to these professional health schools by knowing the prerequisite courses, information about clinical experiences, recommendation letters and admissions’ tests. Time will be reserved for questions.

Volunteers Needed: Annual Fall Open House

Prehealth Information Table at the Annual fall Open House, October 20.

If you are knowledgeable regarding the prehealth requirements (courses, clinical exp, letters, application process, etc.) and feel comfortable talking about being a prehealth student at UB, consider volunteering at the annual Fall Open House on Saturday, October 20. Three (3) volunteers are needed from 10:00-12:00 and then from  12:00-2:00 to help answer questions from prospective UB students and their families. You would also be handing out informational packets and directing people to the presentation at 11:00 a.m. in 112 Norton Hall.

Volunteers will be accepted on a first come/first served basis.  Please email etm3@buffalo.edu and indicate whether you are interested in the 10:00-12:00 shift or 12:00-2:00.  You will be sent an email confirming your participation.

Physician and Author Will Speak on End of Life Care

Dr. Timothy Quill will speak tomorrow night - Wednesday, Sept 26 at Daemen College’s Wick Center at 7:30 p.m.  The talk is presented by Daemen College and the Buffalo Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.  The talk is free and open to the public. He will address - Welcome Stories of Healing and the Hard Choices at the End of Life.
