APMS is helping the Red Cross with a blood drive on March 26th from 9am -2:30pm in the Student Union. If you are interested in volunteering, send your name and the times you can volunteer to Katya at yvm2@buffalo.edu.
APMS is trying to form an OOzfest team (mud volleyball). We need at 4- 6 more people to make a team. The cost is $18.75- $25 per person depending on the number on the team, which APMS would subsidize if enough people are interested. St. George’s University in Grenada is hosting their fifth annual 10 day Summer Med/Vet Academy combining didactic lectures, small group problem solving sessions, practical lab work as well as hands on training in simulated and real-life situations. The experience is enhanced by several educational and adventurous off campus excursions including snorkeling, dolphin watching, and hiking. Effective the 2008 Summer Academy, qualifying participants will receive college credit through the School of Arts and Sciences (St . George’s) from participation in lectures and clinical practices.

Georgetown University is pleased to announce the fourth Georgetown Summer Medical Institute for college students (rising juniors and seniors) and post-bacs. This is a unique opportunity to take an actual medical school course, taught by medical school faculty of Georgetown University. Students will receive an education in the medical sciences and learn what it’s like to go to medical school. In addition, students who enroll in one of our for-credit courses will be eligible to participate in two seminar-style courses designed to educate them on the medical school application process (Medical Admissions Workshops) and issues faced by physicians in today’s health care environment (Physician in Society).

WNED/Western New York Public Broadcasting will be hosting the fourth annual Volunteer Fair (click on Volunteer Fair) at the WNED studios, 140 Lower Terrace, downtown Buffalo, from 10 a.m. to 2p.m., Saturday, March 29.
The event matches potential volunteers with opportunities in more than 35 areas of human service and cultural organization including but not limited to working with pets, children, older adults, assisting in health-care settings and participating in environmental clean-ups or major community events.
