Over the past few weeks, our office has received literature and postings regarding several offshore medical schools both in the Caribbean and in Europe. Some of the schools are more newly formed; others have been in operation for some time. Application to a medical school, regardless of where is it located, is a sizeable and important decision that can have long lasting implications. There are many excellent schools offshore and in Europe; we would simply encourage you to make a well informed decision by exploring all your options.
If you are considering attending an offshore or European medical school, we would strongly encourage you to speak to an advisor first. There are numerous factors to consider. Many times students are concerned about the passage of time and use this as their primary motivator to pursue their medical education outside of the US.
Our office runs a session on applying to offshore schools each year. We are happy to share any materials from this session with you so that you make the best decision for you for your future career in medicine.
