The American University of Antigua today announced the formation of a new school for the study of veterinary medicine at its University Park campus on the Island of Antigua, West Indies. In addition, AUA signed an agreement today with Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine to provide transfer opportunities for qualified AUA veterinary medical students.
“There are only 28 accredited veterinary colleges in the United States. We decided to establish the AUA School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences after talking with Virginia Tech,” said Neal Simon, AUA’s president and co-founder, at a press briefing in New York City. “By teaming with Virginia Tech, one of the best veterinary colleges in the country, AUA has established a new model for earning a degree in veterinary medicine.”
“In five short years, AUA has proven its ability to educate both medical doctors and nurses. Its desire to expand into preparing future veterinarians for their clinical phase at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine creates another avenue for us to attract qualified students and we welcome it,” said Gerhardt G. Schurig, dean of veterinary medicine at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dear UB Pre-Med Students,
As a geriatrician, I know how Alzheimer’s and other dementias (memory/thinking problems) affect many of my patients and their families. I also know how much I depend on the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY to help me help my patients. Health insurers do not reimburse the Alzheimer’s Association for its services - the organization survives only with the generosity of people like you.
The Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s and related diseases (such as dementia from strokes and Parkinson’s disease, Lewy-body dementia, and Pick’s disease). The money raised will go to fund programs and services offered to individuals, families, businesses, and organizations right here in Western New York, and to help support research to treat and prevent Alzheimer’s and related dementias nationwide.
What you can do - it’s simple:
1) Click here to join my team recruit your own supporters, and walk with me in the Memory Walk on Saturday, September 19 at Delaware Park.
2) If you’re not able to walk, click here to make a personal donation. Any amount helps.
I’d love to have a big crowd surrounding me (both in person and in spirit) in September. Thanks so much for supporting this very worthy cause.
If you’re not able to walk, please consider making a personal donation. Any amount helps.
