Gateway to Dentistry Program

The Gateway to Dentistry Program is a unique, 2-week internship that provides college students with lectures, hands-on exercises, and clinical observation experiences to familiarize them with the many facets of the profession and with dental school life.

    * Students are paired with a student mentor, who they observe in the
clinic delivering direct patient care, and spend several lunch
hours with to build rapport and allow your students to ask
      questions in a relaxed setting.

    * An overview of the NJDS admissions and Financial Aid processes,
along with an individualized admissions consultation with a member
of the admissions committee round out the program.

Twice each year 30 college students from across the United States experience the Gateway to Dentistry program. Approximately one-fifth to one-fourth of each NJDS incoming class is comprised of Gateway graduates.

The link to the program website is here and describes the program more fully, direct students as to how to apply on-line, application deadlines and what supporting documentation is required (a current transcript and a letter of recommendation from a health professions advisor or a basic science instructor).
