New MD School Open in Florida
Preliminary accreditation has been granted to the Florida International University College of Medicine. They will welcome their inaugural MD class in August 2009, and will be accepting applications through AMCAS in June 2008. The program emphasis is community-based, patient-centered learning with the development of an understanding of personal, cultural and social factors affecting health care. Students will develop competencies in a full range of medical specialties. In order to apply to the FIU College of Medicine you must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien. Although preference will be given to residents of the State of Florida, well qualified residents of other states are encouraged to apply. Verification including driver’s license, vehicle registration and voter registration will be required.
