READY @ UB is an in-person discussion group and online Facebook community sponsored by the Student Advising Services (SAS) Office.  READY @ UB provides a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to engage in conversations with other UB students who are undecided or confused about majors.  The READY @ UB Discussion Series is facilitated by Jillian Reading, SAS Graduate Assistant and Caitlin Haskell, SAS Undergraduate Peer Assistant.

READY @ UB is for undergraduates who are:

·        Undecided or Confused about a major or minor

·        Thinking about changing their major

·        Seeking help with career exploration or navigation of UB resources

The READY @ UB FACEBOOK page includes:

Articles dealing with issues relevant to college students today

Upcoming Sessions Include:

Registering for Classes, March 26, 12 to 1 p.m., 145B Student Union

This session will cover some tips and tricks for maneuvering the registration process here at UB. You might think you know the process, but you might be surprised at what you can do to maximize your chances of getting the courses you want.  Bring your questions about what courses will fulfill your general education requirements, how many credits you need to graduate with a double degree, or anything else that might be one your mind.

Learning Outside the Classroom, April 2, 12 to 1 p.m., 145 B Student Union

UB offers students a multitude of opportunities to develop and explore within themselves during their undergraduate careers. Find out more about study abroad opportunities, where to look for internships and how to get involved in undergraduate research at this session.

Professionalism and Networking, April 9, 12 to 1 p.m., 145B Student Union

With social networking taking off tremendously in the last few years, college students have more opportunities than ever to connect with future employers via the web. This session will explore how to maximize your networking abilities as well as some tips to improve professionalism before you head out into the job market.

Parental Pressures, April 16, 12 to 1 p.m., 145B Student Union

Whether you are a freshman or a senior, there is no doubt that parental pressures play some sort of role in your college education. This session will help students learn ways to deal with these pressures and voice their concerns/praise for parental involvement.

GPA, April 23, 12 to 1 p.m., 210 Student Union

How do you calculate your GPA? What are some ways to increase it? What GPA is required for graduate school? This session will help students explore the ins and outs of their GPA and decipher what it really means.

Jobs in the Media, April 30, 12 to 1 p.m., 210 Student Union

On TV doctors lives are portrayed as glamorous and office workers are shown as slackers. Is this how the world of work really is? Come and discuss how the media portrays certain occupations and contrast them with what real people in those professions do each day.
