STAR Tutoring Opportunities

This message is from Manu Prativadi, a current UB prehealth student.

Matt Brennan and I (Manu Prativadi) are starting a tutoring program for academically struggling 7th and 8th graders at Gloria Parks Community Center (across from South Campus).  The program is called STAR, which is an acronym for Student Training in Attitude and Responsibility.  The STAR program’s goal is to assist students with academic problems and to create an urge in students to succeed.  The primary intention of STAR is for those students who attend the program to aspire and achieve equal or higher than a high school diploma.  The students selected for the STAR tutoring program undergo motivational exercises and academic tutoring sessions.  The program will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for an hour each day, with times yet to be decided.  The program will run from early September to the first week of December.  In addition, the volunteers will be meeting around twice a month to go over/practice motivational exercises for the students.

We are looking for 10 volunteers, 5 for Tuesdays and 5 for Wednesdays.  We would like reliable and motivated volunteers who are willing to grow with us and the STAR program.  If you would like more information or are interested in volunteering for the STAR program, please contact Matt Brennan (msb29@buffalo.edu) or myself (rgp4@buffalo.edu).

Thanks,

Manu Prativadi and Matt Brennan
